Sussex Elderly Care would like to inform you that we are taking the spread of COVID- 19 (Coronavirus) very seriously and we will continue to monitor advice from the Government and the Department of Health.
Our policy at the moment is to continue with all the care calls – any risk can be actively self-managed by those who are ill staying away and any staff covering calls following NHS guidelines to wash their hands using ‘hand hygiene practice’, and cover their mouth and nose with a tissue or sleeve when coughing or sneezing. As is normal practice all staff are required to wear protective clothing, such as aprons and gloves and adhere to vigilant hand-washing. Antibacterial wipes and personal protective equipment are available in the office for all staff.
We acknowledge that for the safety of the clients’ welfare and continuity of service not to be compromised, is to work in partnership with other agencies. In the event any of our staff should be affected by the virus that it calls on other resources in the community to provide continuity of care. This may be by using care staff from another establishment to work with the agency or clients to be temporarily placed in a residential setting. We will not make any decisions without informing you and obtaining consent from you or your relatives. We will be prioritizing clients who are the most vulnerable and dependent on care staff for their personal care needs. Should the Government impose self isolation on the older members of the community we are working in partnership with local businesses to ensure that people have sufficient basic groceries such as milk and bread.
We would like to reassure you that we will be following advice and guidance from the NHS in any event. If you have any concerns please contact us. We will keep you informed of any recent guidance. Our aim is to minimise the risk of infection and keep you and other members of the community safe.
