On Wednesday April 8th, Sussex Elderly Care will be sponsoring and supporting a ‘Living Well With Dementia’ event. This event aims to highlight the importance of creating dementia and age friendly communities as well as to engage and involve people living with dementia, their carers, advocates and professionals through a national network. It is an opportunity to inform key stakeholders about the needs and preferences of people living with dementia and their carers.

Treatment and care options are presently limited however person-centred care and awareness greatly enhances and improves the quality of life for people living with dementia and their carers. A more tolerant, caring and understanding community can prevent or minimise the ultimate option of residential care or the over-utilization of anti-psychotic medication.

As part of the ‘Havens Dementia Action’ group we would like to take this opportunity to involve more people to become dementia friends and to increase awareness and understanding about dementia.
We ask you to get involved and pledge to commit to a more dementia friendly society. Come and join us on tomorrow from 11am to 2pm at the Meridian Community Centre in Peacehaven to meet professionals and people from the community and be part of interactive group to support a dementia friendly society.
